The Greatest Super Hero of All Time RETURNS! The world may have changed since Spidey’s been gone, but so has Peter Parker. This is a man with a second chance at life, and he’s not wasting a moment of it. Same Parker Luck, new Parker attitude. Putting the “friendly” back in the neighborhood, the “hero” back into “super hero,” and the “amazing” back into “Spider-Man!” Also returning: The recharged and reenergized ELECTRO!
My Rating: 6 out of 10
Really enjoyed seeing the return of the one and only Peter Parker after Doc Ock has been in the driver’s seat for the Superior Spider-Man run. Now while it was an enjoyable read, its mostly set up for all the new realities Peter needs to face after his return. How will he deal with the image SpOck (that’s Spider-Man while he was inhabited by Doc Ock’s mind for those of you who aren’t on the up and up with comic chatroom lingo) has now created not only for Spider-Man but for Peter Parker.
Really enjoyed having Spidey’s witty retort back in action also, the “Parker Luck.” Hilarious scene that, as Spider-Woman puts it, “… could only happen to him.” Love the art, it’s cartoony and fun and the colors just pop right off the page. Lot of great story lines for the future being set up and we even see a little flashback to the day where Peter was bite by the radioactive spider and find out… he wasn’t alone. Who could it be? guess we’ll have to wait and find out.
While it seems like a lot of great story material has begun, we really only get little snip-its of the beginnings but I suppose that’s what keeps us reading. It’s always difficult with a #1 because you have to start setting up the character. How did they get to this place, where do they want to go? This flows more naturally as a story progresses and is then something that can happen gradually but with a #1, you have to do a little more structural base for people to jump on.
Should be a fun new beginning for the original Wall-Crawler.
